IDP Participation in Electoral Process (continuous voters’ registration) in Adamawa state.

Project Summary

DOLPWIF is implementing an IDP Participation in electoral Process in collaboration with NDI. The project is funded by DOLPWIF and UKaid. The project is being implemented in two IDP Camps (Fufore and Malkohi) and host communities under (Fufore) Fufore L.G.A and (Malkohi) Yola South L.G.A both are in Adamawa State.

ACHIEVEMENTS/RESULTS:

The following achievements and progress were recorded by DOLPWIF throughout the project periods:

  • Community stakeholders, media houses, Agencies, Ministries, civil defense corps, IDPs and host communities support and committed to play roles in the implementation of the program.
  • The DOLPWIF trained enumerators with the use of kobo collect and KII captured the data of 1711 IDPs voters registration statue across 2 camps and 3 host communities.
  • Project Implementation Committee were formed and key action points agreed upon by the committee.
  • 17 Local facilitators (M 11/F 6) became conversant and familiar with the provision of the INEC IDP Voting framework.
  • 16 Enumerators (M 11/F 5) were set to carry out data collection exercise in the camps and host communities.
  • Key messages the for production of behavioral materials developed. Stakeholders, Local facilitators, and selected enumerators were informed about DOLPWIF/NDI IDP’s participation in the Continuous Voters Registration intervention in Adamawa State.
  • 16 Enumerators (M 11/F 5) equipped with skills to collect data using different data-gathering instruments from IDPs in camps and host communities.
  • 17 Local facilitators (M 13/F 7) including DOLPWIF staff acquired skills to pass voter education messages using various agreed strategies to fellow IDPs.
  • A baseline survey by DOLPWIF-trained enumerators was carried out in 2 camps and 3 host communities of Fufore & Malkohi.
  • 12 youth champions (7M/5F) were trained and has actively participated in carrying out online pre-registration exercises in IDP camps and host communities.
  • 3 jingles, 4 banners, 200 T-shirts, 5000 fliers, and 150 posters were produced to create awareness on the continuous Voters Registration Exercise
  • Over 4000 IDPs received messages on voter registration.
  • DOLPWIF secured the opportunity to produce jingles which were aired at Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for sensitization and awareness on the continuous voter’s registration exercise.
