EDUCATION PROJECT

The DOLPWIF Education in Emergency project is a project funded by the DIVINE OUTREACH FOR THE LESS PRIVILEGE AND WIDOWS FOUNDATION (DOLPWIF), as part of the DOLPWIF’s project in support of Ebonyi State government free education. The project supports both formal and Non-formal education to ensure conflict affected children are attended to and also learning relevant literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills.

 Formal tutoring program is established in the formal schools to provide children at the risk of dropping-out with needed academic support, the cohorts is 3hrs per day, 45 minutes per period and 3 contact days per week.

The non-formal learning is assisting out-of-school children through the Non-Formal Education (NFE) to gain relevant literacy, numeracy and social emotional skills in a safe and conducive environment. The cohorts of Non-formal program is 3hrs per day and 45 minutes per period.

DOLPWIF is running 18 non-formal centers and 30 formal centers, the non-formal centers comprise of 50 pupils’ per-center and 900 beneficiaries across the centers, 20 pupils per center for the formal learning program totaling 600 beneficiaries.

The Non-formal centers commenced learning in the first week of March,2018. and have 4 contact days per week, while that of formal learning centers commenced in the last week of May, 2018.

These centers are located in the following areas;

  • 1 Onyebuchi Nweke close,male 50 Abakaliki
  • Lawan Mustapha primary school Sabongari
  • Community  primary school Ugboenyi
  • Amalwa primary school Amalwa

ACHIEVEMENTS

At the cause of implementation some notable achievement has been reached which among others are;

  •  Advocacy visit to the benefiting communities was done successfully 
  • Successful selection of community coalition members
  • Successful selection of learning facilitators
  • Mobilized the learning facilitators for training
  • Successfully enrolled 200 beneficiaries for non-formal centers
  • Provision of scholastic materials for the beneficiaries
  • Selection of formal learning tutors
  • Successfully replaced the declined Learning Facilitators
  • Successful meeting with the LF’s on progress activities
  • Conducted orientation meeting with the CC’s on their duties and expectations
  • Enrolled 200 formal learning beneficiaries
  • Officially inform the Divisional Police Officer of the Program, its nature, time and period of operation
  • Mobilized the Community Coalition members for training
  • Mobilized the formal tutors for training
  • Ensured the running of learning centers progressively through monitoring and supervision, provision of wash materials and provision of teaching aid.
  • Notable improvement on the beneficiary’s literacy and numeracy level.
  • Emotional stability has been noticed in some learners who were initially depressed

DOLPWIF , with the mandate to improve the health and quality of life of Nigeria’s rural children and women, is currently implementing project to intervene on child protection in 10 major locations of  State which include: Damasak, Monguno,Mafa, Rann, Banki, Pulka, Dikwa, Konduga and Damboa and Ngala.
